REYS

HISTORY

REYS was established in 1982 by a group of concerned men and women who wanted to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for the youth of our community.

We spent the first 18 years or so in about 1200 square feet of the building pictured above. It was small but it met the needs of many youth.

On April 16th 2002, the new facility was opened. It was soon very clear that this substantial project was going to dramatically change our ability to reach the youth of our community!

We were open 3 nights a week our attendance began to grow and new youth quickly became regular attendees. What was once an attendance of between 10 and 15 youth each night became attendance of 25, 30, 40 teens and reached high numbers of over 70.

We re-structured the open door nights and in May of 2003, adding Monday nights to the calendar, lowering the age to 10 years old and REYSsplitting the age groups up to allow for more interaction with a smaller group of teens.

In the first quarter of 2005, the average attendance increased. God is opening hearts and we are blessed to be a part of these young peoples' lives.

REYS would like to build a skate park reach the hundred or so youth in our area whose main form of recreation are skateboarding and bmx biking. Join us as we take the next adventurous step toward connecting God's heart to our youth.

Core Beliefs

  1. The Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments being given by divine inspiration are the Word of God, the final and supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
  2. In the scriptures, God reveals Himself as the living and true God, creator of all things. Perfect in love and righteous in all His ways, this one God exists eternally as a Trinity of persons: the Father, the Son, and The Holy Spirit.
  3. God made man in His image that he might have fellowship with Him. Being estranged from God by his disobedience, sinful man is incapable of a right relationship with God apart from divine grace.
  4. The only Mediator between God and man is Christ Jesus our Lord, God's eternal Son, who, as a man, fully shared and fulfilled our humanity in a life of perfect obedience.
  5. By His death in our place, Jesus revealed the divine love and upheld the divine justice, removing our guilt and reconciling us to God. Having risen bodily from the dead and ascending into heaven, He rules as Lord over all and intercedes for us as our great high priest.
  6. The Holy Spirit, through the proclamation of the Gospel, renews our hearts, persuading us to repent of our sins and confess Jesus as Lord. By the same Spirit we are led to trust in divine mercy, whereby we are forgiven for all our sins, justified by faith through the merit of Christ our Savior, adopted into God's family as His children and enabled so to live in the world that others may see our good works and glorify our Father who is in heaven.
  7. God, by His Word and Spirit, calls sinful men into the fellowship of Christ's body. Thus He creates the one holy, universal, and apostolic church, united in the bonds of love, endowed with the gifts of the Spirit and summoned by Christ to preach the Gospel and to administer the sacraments, to relieve human needs, and to strive for social justice.
  8. God's redemptive purpose will be consummated by the return of Christ to raise the dead, judge all people and establish His glorious kingdom. Those who are apart from Christ shall be eternally separated from God's presence, but the righteous shall live and reign with Him forever.
